An Overview of Radiators and Some Useful Tips

Radiator is the most important part of the cooling system of an internal combustion engine. Maintain the engine temperature under control, without them there would be no way to keep the engine from overheating. For this reason, it is known as the center of the cooling system radiator. Radiators come in all sizes and shapes, depending on space and need a car or truck.

Types of radiators

There are two types of used car radiators:

Flow Top

Flow radiator which is often seen on older models and not as efficient as a cross flow of new services. Flow Top sipping hot radiator fluid on the top line and cooled. They are much larger than the size of the new design.

Crossflow radiator is shorter than the maximum size of the radiator flow, more space under the hood. So the most appropriate with respect to the boundaries of the new vehicles that will cross-flow design space. Cross flow radiator coolant radiator ends and encourage the entire cooling radiator tubes are being used more and therefore better mixing of the cooling provided.

How Car Radiator proportion

The most important task of the radiator to cool the engine by circulating water through a pipe or antifreeze agent. Proposal that radiators should be flushed at least once in six months to operate efficiently. Therefore, given some instructions to colleagues or fix a car radiator.

Park the car on a flat surface. Stop the engine and allow the engine is cold.

Two. Open the hood, open the radiator cap and open the drain holes in the bottom to allow water or air to escape. Remove the upper and lower hoses and replace them if they are not in good shape.

Three. Check the drain pan of water for contaminants. Signs of rust and black clothing means you have to clean the radiator.

April. Get a garden hose and spray water on the radiator to clean all the dirt and contaminants.

May. Do not forget the engine cooling jacket for cleaning, washing to remove all impurities.

6. Replace the battery drain hole again. Fill radiator with new coolant that is recommended for your vehicle. Make sure you fill the radiator only to the level required. Enough to fix all the hoses up and down.

7. When finished, check the radiator cap for signs of corrosion or fatigue. If so, get a new one. Replace the radiator cap and check back emissions.

Start the engine and let it run for a while. Check the cooling system is working properly or not. Once again, check the coolant level in the emissions and radiator.
